Whew! And I thought I’d have to spend money and change ports or worse, have the board replaced (that’s expensive!). CEC (C onsumer E lectronics C ontrol) is a feature that allows commands to be sent through HDMI to control up to 15 CEC-enabled devices. Did exactly what Edward suggested and unplugged the TV, pointed the remote with power button pressed towards the TV for 20 seconds, powered it on and I regained the sound on the originally troublesome HDMI port 1. So I thought was this a sign the whole board was going bonkers? Glad I found this thread. Passcode S This is required to control the display. If left blank or set to 0, the driver will use its default value of 9761. Port A The port value used when making a socket connection to the device. Maybe I'll plug it to a serial cable just for 'playing' - I know that there will not be anything useful to do with this connection I do not have great expectations, so, less disappointment. It took only a few hours when I noticed the video signal would flicker now and then even after I changed the cable connection to the rest of the HDMI ports. IP Address S The IP Address of the LG 2018 display. \\begingroup\ Since I wrote the comment I searched (and found) about Samsung serial commands (my TV is Samsung's). First, it looks for a serial port that responds like the LG TV should. The bytes do not appear to be the same each time and get written out through the duration of while the TV is turning on. For starters, I wrote a bash script that does all the communication with the TV. So I just moved the cable to the other ports so I could continue watching with sound. The on command results in a reply as expected based on LG's RS-232 guide, but then the TV also returns undecipherable bytes that make no sense and do not follow the guide. I thought the port was the problem because when I plugged my HDMI cable to the other HDMI ports 2, 3 and 4, video and audio worked well and when I reverted back to the HDMI port 1, audio would be absent. The lgcommand program takes serial device as the first argument, then groups the two command characters together as the second, the set ID as the third, and the data as the fourth. Video was fine but sound was non existent. Codes sent to the TV consist of two command letters, followed by a space followed by the set ID, another space some data and then a newline. The cable box on my 75”LG on HDMI port 1 lost sound all of a sudden. So here are the links.Edward Hill got it right for me. The process is very similar to installing software on your PC. You just need to download the files and run them on your computer. In other words if your TV has a current volume of 10 and you request a volume of 9 the command will execute and then will return the current volume. I have provided the links below to get the latest version of the same for both Windows and Mac users. It is very necessary that you have the right USB drivers installed on your PC for your LG device.
